Dressing for your bodytype

Dressing for your bodytype

We are proud to be a small fashion house in an ever-changing industry that caters for all types of styles and tastes. We also champion inclusivity and understand that every single body type is different; thus, every single body type requires a different way of dressing. Here at Till We Cover, we make it our mission to create clothes that are suited to a wide range of figures.

Whether you're slim, tall, short, curvy or you simply have big hips and a small waist, our clothes have been designed with you in mind. Another rising issue in the fashion industry which is now being spoken about globally is social inclusion. Social inclusion is the name given to the process of improving on the ability, opportunity and dignity of those who may have a disadvantage due to their identity.

When social inclusion meets fashion, there is a dichotomy that many labels are still not willing to cater for. This is why Till We Cover has been created primarily for those who still want to look relevant while still feeling comfortable and confident.

We undergo a thoughtful process with each of our line releases to ensure our pieces are abiding by our ethos, as well as catering for all body shapes. Because whether you choose to cover up or not, what matters is feeling confident in your outfit.

In this blog post, we're going to show you how we have approached the matter of dressing for your body type with our lovely dresses. Now that we're in SS20, there is no better time to give you our styling tips on some of our seasonal pieces!!

1) Pair shaped or Hourglass figure?

 Geo Weave Dress - £45

The first dress that we're going to mention is our Geo Weave Dress- a firm favourite of ours. This vibrant, 60's inspired frock is the ideal item for brightening up your Spring/Summer wardrobe. In terms of the style, this dress would undoubtedly suit a pear body shape, a triangle body shape or an hourglass body shape.

Due to its natural cinching in around the waist, and it's floaty midi-length skirt, this dress would complement a curvier body. Without touching the skin, the material would lovingly fall over the hips, accentuating this gorgeous silhouette. Also, the high-neck is especially flattering for anyone with a long neck, narrow face, small chest or sloped shoulders.

We recommend pairing this with some western-style boots, and a straw Panama hat to get the summer style popping.

2) Narrow, rectangle body shape?

Grid Dress - £60

Our grid dress is especially fantastic for layering. As we can never be sure of the English weather, it's good to have a few key dresses in your wardrobe that you can use on several occasions. This grid dress would look fantastic paired with a chunky oversized jumper (check out our sculpted scuba) over the top with some chunky boots and a backpack to hold your essentials.

On the other hand, we think paired with some aviator sunglasses and some chunky trainers, this dress would be a vibe while shopping on a hot summer's day. As this is a very straight shaped dress, we believe someone with a narrow, rectangle body shape would suit it the most as it doesn't cling and it will hang nicely. If you'd like to compliment your curves, size up, add a belt and you'll be good to go.

3) Straight up and down?

This chic little number screams a bougie lunch out with the girls. Again, from its pencil-type style, this sophisticated dress would look gorgeous on someone with a straight-down figure, but also someone with a little curve too because if you can't already tell, this dress has a tie string at the back- a subtle way to cinch in your waist.

Style this with some round sunglasses, chunky trainers and a white bucket bag, and you'll be ready to hit the streets. Oh, and did we mention that it has pockets, ladies?

4) Fit for all!

Last but not least, we have a relaxed-fit dress. This dress is especially suited to those who love a bit of comfort while also still looking incredibly stylish. From its jumpered top, this dress is more appropriate for those chillier days, but nonetheless, paired with some chunky boots, big hoops and a chunky belt and this edgy look would be brought to life. Accessories are crucial for this one!

We believe that this is a dress fit for all. From its baggy-style that isn't too drowning, this could look fantastic on all body shapes, styled right. Also, the dropped shoulders and the crew neckline is especially flattering for people with a long neck or broad shoulders.

And that's a wrap! We hope that we have given you some guidance when dressing for your body type. Remember, as long as you feel comfortable and confident in an outfit that is all that matters. With so many different body shapes, only you can determine how you feel when trying an item of clothing on. But, this Spring/Summer, its time that you experimented and expressed your own personal style if you haven't already done so.
